If you could remember everything

Wouldn't it be cool to remember everything? I have spoken to Aviva about this at some length, about people with perfect recall and I keep thinking it would be so cool to be able to remember every flavor you taste, every kiss, every first anything, to be able to experience the memories fresh again and again.

But, as with most things, I do not think about the downside, constantly reexperiencing all of the negatives as freshly as they just happened ... that would make like almost unbearable. The concept that forgetting is just as important as remembering is kind of foreign, but when you think about it, it makes a lot of sense.

Unlike many sci-fi philosophical questions, this one really has a real world equivalent, which you can read about here, in the profile of Jill Price, a 42 year old californian with perfect recall. Check it out, it is not only interesting but it really makes you think about the role memory plays in ones life.
