2 Months Old!!!

Last week was a big week for us, Soren turned 2 months old on Thursday the 21st ... for all the parents (or the few parents) who read this, my observation will not be a shock, but watching him grow, day-by-day and week-by-week is nothing short of incredible. The change is so massive from day to day .. it is a biological miracle. These days he weighs in at around 12 lbs (up about 3.5 lbs from his last doctors visit 3 weeks ago) and is getting so tall - really the right word is long, as these days he is never actually vertical - that he is almost stretching out of his 3 - 6 month old clothes. Imagine if we grew that fast, gaining 1/3 of your body weight in a month. And his changes in behavior are crazy, he is starting to get control of his arms, to laugh when awake, to grab and hold things, to stick his tongue out ... all things that I had never thought of as a big deal before, but are now amazing. Its like you can almost see the neural connections forming inside his head ....

Other than the baby stuff, which is always amazing, it was a pretty normal week with the new baby, not as much sleep as we would like, accompanied by a lot of joy and some frustration. Last weekend, my cousins Jake and Julia came up to visit Soren, which was really nice. I have said it before, but I feel incredibly lucky to have so many devoted and loving family and friends so close at hand. Not a single weekend has gone by since he has come home when we have not had visitors both days of the weekend. And everyone has been so generous with their time and money, often bringing food and helping out around the house while they are here. It is tremendous.
